Women and Girls Capabilities and Empowerment Organization Nigeria

Women & Girls Capabilities & Empowerment Organization Nigeria

Description: The Child Rights Act was enacted by the Federal Government of Nigeria in 2003 to safeguard the best interests of children. It outlines fundamental rights, including but not limited to the Right to Survival and Development, Right to Education, Right to a Name, Right to Leisure and Recreation, and the Right to Parental Care and Protection. However, many children, especially those in rural areas, remain unaware of these rights. Our project aims to bridge this knowledge gap by organizing debate competitions, providing children with an engaging platform to learn about the Child Rights Act while also enhancing their public speaking, critical thinking, and leadership skills. Students from various schools will participate in debates, competing against one another. Additionally, girls from the winning and runner-up schools will take part in an all-girls football match to promote community awareness on gender equality and highlight the valuable contributions of women and girls beyond traditional roles such as reproduction, caregiving and household duties.

Tasks: Engage by providing insights and input on how we can engage with local and global partners to ensure sustainability of activity.
